Harpenden Swimming Club (HSC) are in contention for National Arena League promotion, after coming second in the second round of the National Arena League competition by two points. HSC won 15 events on the night and achieved 15 first places, 12 seconds and 14 thirds from 50 swims.
The under 14 Boys team of Angus Harrow, Ed Campfield, Luke Temple and Yannik Wilson shone again, winning all of their races in pretty spectacular style. The U16 Girls team including Alice Dyson, Caitlin Hoddinott, Claire Burrell and Katialin Dang won both of their relays.
In the U14 Girls Larissa Dean swam brilliantly, with two individual personal best times taking 3 seconds off her 100m fly time and 0.22 of her 100m backstroke.
Individual winners included: Emma Craig (50 backstroke), Yannik Wilson (100 breaststroke), George Williams (50 butterfly), Ed Campfield (100 backstroke), Caitlin Hoddinott (100 butterfly), Bradley Borland (50 breaststroke), Larissa Dean (100 butterfly), Angus Harrow (100 butterfly) and Katialin Dang (100 breaststroke).
Head Coach Annie Thompson said ‘we are incredibly pleased that we are in contention for promotion in our first season in the league but we know that the team are going to have to work really hard to secure it. There was some very close racing last night and we are pleased with how our swimmers stepped up to the mark when the pressure was on.’
