We had 32 swimmers racing this weekend hoping to grab themselves some County qualifying times, be it new times to add to their collection or the first of their campaign.
The day kicked off with the 200m butterfly, and after a near miss but fantastically swum race from Larissa, Michael cruised to a county time in the boys event. Getting out and telling the coaches that he had loads of energy left probably wasn't his best idea though!
Alice D bagged the most times of the weekend, qualilfying in the 100m & 200m freestyle and the 50m & 200m backstroke, whilst Larissa and Yannik both qualified for the 100m butterfly. Whilst our breaststrokers weren't out in force at this meet, Emma B and Caitlin both grabbed their 100m breaststroke, with Caitlin also posting a time for the 200m backstroke. Sam led the way in the IMs, qualifying for the 200m IM, whilst Katialin, Angus and Ed all got times in the 100m IM. Angus also qualified for the 200m freestyle, and Ed got the 50m butterfly time. Joe, Alice R and Aggie were chasing backstroke times, and duly delivered, all qualifying for the 100m backstroke and Joe getting the 50m for good measure.
Well done to all of these swimmers who added to the events they had already qualified for.
There were three swimmers who achieved their first ever county times at this meet as well. All three swimmers, George H, Emma C and Megan, qualified for the 50m backstroke, whilst Megan also picked up the 100m breaststroke. Welcome to the Counties party guys!
The coaches were really pleased with how the swimmers dedicated themselves to the task in hand this weekend, and even when the result fell short of the county time there were some big PBs and lots of skill improvements shining through.
